To navigate to Group settings for a Course, follow these steps:

Step 1: In the Course, select 'Course settings'

Step 2: From here, select 'Completion settings' and then 'Group overrides'

Step 3: Choose the Group that you would like to adjust your settings for.

You can view these steps in action below.

Once you have selected the Group, you'll be able to view all the settings you can override for the Group. Default completion settings apply to all Groups unless they’ve been overridden for a Group, or an individual learner.

Timezone

Here, you can override the timezone for a particular Group. This is particularly beneficial if your organization is global, and your learners are grouped based on their location.

Course availability

For each Group, you can set the dates for the Course to be available. The Group will not be able to access the Course outside of the dates and times set here.

Course completion options

You are also able to set a course completion timeframe for an individual Group. You can choose to set the timeframe as any number of days from Commencement of the Course (the learner has accessed the Course) or Enrollment (the learner has been enrolled into the Course).

Module order

Here, you can choose whether the Group must complete the modules in order. If you toggle on 'Enable module order', learners within the Group will be forced to complete the modules in the order they appear in the Course. If this is toggled off, the Group will be able to jump between the modules and complete them in any order they choose.

Grading style

You can choose whether a Group views their grades as a score or competency by overriding this setting.

Advanced module settings

You can adjust advanced settings for specific modules within your Course for the specific Group. Here, you can choose:

  • If you would like to hide a module from the Group. For example, you may not require all Groups to complete an Assignment within a course, so you may choose to hide the Assignment.

  • If a module is required for Course completion.

  • To set availability dates for individual modules.

If your Course includes an Assignment, you are also able to set a Due date specific to the Group (see below).
