Our latest eCoach Release (Jesmond) was rolled out over night and is now live on our servers…

One of the first things you may have already noticed is our new customer communication system, which provides help and support where you most need it (from inside our app). Our new chat system allows you to ask and receive help and responses from every screen of eCoach via our team’s shared inbox:

The new system is designed to be simple, personal, and helpful for everyone (just click the chat bubble to launch a new conversation), but you can of course still email us, or pick up the phone during our Monday to Friday regular support hours.

As part of the change, we have also launched a new FAQ section on the site. You can now easily find answers to all of your eCoach questions using our intuitive search function, or navigating through the FAQ categories.

Note: We are currently in the process of moving all of our documentation and existing help articles to the new FAQ section. If you can’t find the answers to your questions please let us know.

Backend Changes

The Team section of ‘Users’ screen has received a facelift, which means it’s now a lot clearer to see who belongs to which Department, and which team members are Campus and and Finance Managers – it’s also a lot easier to see what your each team member can and can’t do.

As you can see in the screenshot above, Users are also now clearly labelled within their Department/s. In addition,  when adding Team members it’s now much clearer what permissions you are granting, and it’s possible to assign them using simple checkboxes as you are adding new users to your team.

Over on the Dashboard, there are now some handy filters that allow you to search by Course Code and Course Title. Pagination has been added to the Courses page which will improve load times and make it a lot easier to manage your training delivery when working with a large number of Courses.

Dive into a Course, and you can now see the status of your modules directly from the Course Overview screen – an improvement designed to better streamline your workflows, so that you can easily see what the status of each module is without having to to visit the Lessons, Quizzes or Assignments Tabs.

Jump into the Reports area and you’ll see that there are now filters (by date, where applicable) and an export function for Course, Groups, Student, Lessons, Assignment Reports, (along with Active/inactive Users). Reports can be exported in Excel (.xlsx) for PDF format.

Some other updates you may not notice immediately are in the Quiz Settings (where there is now an option to set unlimited attempts using a checkbox) and there’s also better scaffolding across key areas of eCoach Author + LMS accounts, including improved explanation of the Learning Outcomes and Participants functionality.

We’ve actually made a raft of small changes like this across the backend which are too numerous to list here – something we are constantly working on to make eCoach as intuitive as possible.

Improvements

  • Campus Managers also no longer have to set themselves as a facilitator to access the Participants and Noticeboard Course tabs
  • Students will now receive an email when they are disenrolled
  • The spell checker now uses your browser settings (so you don’t have to change the settings each time you want to launch the checker)

In the pipeline

The product team has begun work on UI designs for a new “Events” module that will allow users to create an event that can be marked as completed/attended by Participants. Facilitators will then be able to mark-off attendance which will be recorded by the system. This is an exciting new feature that will extend the functionality of eCoach LMS for blended learning environments. We hope to begin development work on the Events feature in the near future, and will hopefully be launching it before the end of the year (stay tuned).

Other new features we’ll be working on include an ePortfolio system, a media manager (to help store all of your design and document assets), single sign on (API), integrations with popular student management system, chat, and LMS calendar functions.
