Advice and answers from the eCoach Team

Combining text with images is not only fun and engaging for your Participants, it’s also effective! The Image+ Template is the perfect tool for adding graphics and other visuals to your eLearning courses.

Let’s look at how you can make your own in eCoach:

Step 1: Select the Image+ Template from the ‘Presentation’ panel.

Step 2: Drag your Image+ Template into the Lesson Pathway.

Step 3: Give your new Tile a title.

Step 4: Click the yellow ‘Edit Screen’ button.

Step 5: From the edit screen, you can choose to change your title, and enter a description. A description is optional, and will appear under your title if you chose one.

Step 6: Select a layout option for your Image+ Template. The first option will present all of your images in a row, which works best when you have a small number of images to display. The second option will present your images in two rows, which works best for when you have many images.

Step 7: Select how you want your Participants to view the text for each image. The first option, ‘Expand on mouse enter’, will expand each image and display its description when your participants roll their mouse over the image in question. The second option, ‘Expand on mouse click’, requires your Participants to click on each image to make it expand and to see its description.

Step 8: To start building your Image+ Template, select the green ‘Add New Item’ button.

Step 9: Choose your image and enter a title and description for it. For more information on using the ‘Add Image’ button, click here.

Image Tips: Our image suggestions for Image Click Template depend on whether you chose to display your images in one or two rows in Step 6.

One row: When only displaying 2 images, we recommend sizing them at 389 x 300 pixels each. For 3 images, try 390 x 275 pixels. For 4 images, 293 x 275 pixels is recommended. When using over 4 images, we recommend switching to two rows.

Two rows: The minimum amount of images that can be displayed in two rows is 4. Size these images at 585 x 275 pixels each. For 5 images, try 3 images at the top with a size of 390 x 275 pixels, and 2 underneath at a size of 585 x 275 pixels. For 6 images, keep them all at 390 x 275 pixels. For 7 images, try 4 on the top at a size of 293 x 275 pixels, and 3 at the bottom at a size of 390 x 275 pixels. For 8 images, keep them all to 293 x 275 pixels. For 9 images, try 5 at the top at a size of 234 x 275 pixels, and 4 at the bottom at a size of 293 x 275 pixels. For 10 images, try 6 at the top with a size of 195 x 275 pixels and 4 at the bottom with a size of 293 x 275 pixels.

Step 10: When you’re done adding text, select the green checkmark to save your changes.

You can re-order each item by using the ‘drag and drop’ handles on the left. The order they’re displayed in here is the order that will be displayed to Participants.
